Besides John Latchis, Wichland recalled a cast of characters who worked at the theatre, including Phil
“Zippo” Hitchcock, the theater’s projectionist, and ticket-taker George Miller.
“He was always there,” Wichland said of Miller. “He was a very nice gentleman, a good guy.”
Susan O’Neil works at The Apothecary on Main Street, which moved in next to the theater several years
ago.
“I went to see ‘Flipper,’ ” she said. “It was the first movie I ever saw. I must’ve been 6 or 7 years old.”
O’Neil also remembers Miller.
“I remember him greeting people in that hallway,” she said. “As you came in the doors and saw the brass
rail, he would greet people there.”
